Final Mission.

Not imminent but soon, Newlyn's Mission along with six others around the UK will close its doors sometime in the next five years.

A downturn in the size of the nation's fishing fleets and in donations have contrived to make the Royal National Mission to Deep Sea Fishermen take this drastic action in order to reduce its overhead. Alternative ways are planned to deal with the Mission's traditional support role for the industry.

Newlyn's Mission had its heyday of recent years back in the 70s and 80s when large numbers of visiting vessels headed to the South West for the mackerel fishery.
