Across the big pond American trawlers are filmed dumping huge quantities of striped bass at sea - in a process known as selective discarding. This is a practice not unknown in the industry with minimum landing sizes where boats will continue to catch fish until they have made up their quota with the size of fish that yields the maximum price - as in any market, it's the price that dicatates. Perhaps they need to catch Hugh's attention!
