Cracking start to the first September Monday morning in Newlyn...
with a market full of largely inshore fish...
with plenty of top quality fish like these inshore trawl John Dory just waiting to be auctioned...
and sent to the best restaurants...
while the monk tails...
Dover sole...
and lemons were lined up ready to go...
along with monk tails and megrims...
while this big landing of JDs will have put an even bigger smile on skipper Richard's face...
there were plenty of haddock too...
scallops seem to be in abundance late this yeear...
the handliners were also busy over the weekend with pollack...
and bass...
local fish mongers and restaurants will be happy to serve up fresh sardines...
in response to a batch of bluefin tuna licences being created there are now several angling boats chasing these fish...
the number of visiting yachts seems to be slowing down now - despite the fine weather forecast - a bit late for many!..
fine weather makes it easier for the inshore boats to operate - they will be heading out later today.
