Badcock's Gallery to close in the New Year.

The Christmas Postcard Show

Take a last chance now to browse contemporary art work in the comfort of Badcock's Gallery - this year's annual postcard exhibition is due to run untill the new Year when the gallery's doors will close for the last time.

After 10 years as the only independent art gallery in Newlyn promoting local artists, Nickie Carlyon has decided to close her showcase shopfront; Newlyn will miss the constantly changing shop windows that have helped promote a wide range of work and styles from local artists.

Locals and visitors alike will have to wait and see what venture replaces the world of 21st century art!

Nathan Outlaw does 100% fish.

Latest news from top Cornish chef at Restaurant Nathan Outlaw is that, from now on, his eateries at Roc's St Enodoc Hotel will focus on fresh fish from local boats. These days it has become increasingyly common for restaurant and hotel chefs to source their daily requirements locally, in some cases from a handful of boats that specialise in catching a select range species like mackerel and bass.

The British and Irish Cup 2010-11 Pool 'A' opener away against Scottish Premiership side Currie RFC will now be at the Mennaye Field, Penzance, on Saturday, kick off 2pm.

Officials of Currie RFC advised the Cornish Pirates earlier this week that there was no prospect of their pitch near Edinburgh being playable this coming weekend, and following discussions they have agreed to fly to Cornwall to get the fixture played.

The cost to the Cornish Pirates to host the game will amount to £14,000, covering Currie's flight to Cornwall and an agreed share of the gate, so it is hoped that rugby followers in the county will rally and support the Pirates at this Saturday's game.

Currie RFC were Scottish Hydro Premier 1 Champions last season, the league has since split and they now compete in the top eight of what has been named a Scottish Premier A league, where they are currently placed in mid-table. Former Scotland 'A' player Ally Donaldson is their head coach, the Currie squad is littered with Scotland internationals at various levels, along with a number of other players from New Zealand, South Africa, and Ireland. Kiwi full-back Hayden Abercrombie is a prolific points scorer who has played for North Harbour in the NPC.
