A kind of bread, 112 miles South West of Land's End
The weather conditions are creating 'skip' where high frequency signbals are able to skip between the surface of the sea and thermal layers allowing radar and AIS to pick up targets at much greater disntance than normal - the Breton trawler Bara an Aod, one of the fleet of 'bread' boats (bara = bread) is showing up 112 miles off Land's End.

just about to start the first sale of the morning on the market floor - something that will be a thing of the past in the new fish market planned as the fish will be available for inspection in cold storage while buyers will sit in a buying room at computer terminals bidding against remote buyers from all over Europe -

Fish handling.
Newlyn has excellent hi-speed transport links with the south coast ferry links, Plymouth, Poole and Weymouth.......
the new fish market with its properly planned fish handling system in temperature controlled conditions will mean an end to these practices - thank goodness for polystyrene boxes that were first introduced for megrim and hake in the early 1980s......
while being out in the sun is not so good for fish, Cornwall's biggest business needs all the sun it can get this season - the forecast looks good for the weekend - apprpriate beach gear available from the Newlyn Harbour Design Centre.......
