Mid-week market in Newlyn

The one and only Newlyn harbour...

famed for fantastic fish found nowhere else in the UK in such quantities like these juicy John Dory...

from two top inshore trawlers...

or luscious long-filleted ling...

marvellous monk...

chunky cod...

all of them have a different tale to tell...

though squid is still hard to come by...

Brackan's bright red gurnards fit the bill...

or how about some beautiful line caught bass...

or majorly missing in any quantity, mackerel for the BBQ...

at the other end of the market, the invisible netter Ajax has a ten ton trip of hake on the market...

with some of them over the 7 kilo mark...

and all with a huge smile on their faces...

late to land, the inshore trawler, Copious makes her way to the market...

this guy has just swallowed a whole red gurnard, hence his bulging crop...

after last night;s stunning light display in the Bay there's even more magnificent light this morning...

s the local seal does his breakfast rounds in the harbour...

Friday night is music night at the Swordfish...

RNLI 14-02 Esme Anderson on passage...

nets galore on the quayside...

that's another paint job finished...

masts of all kinds point skywards.
