Monday morning's market

Net, trawl, inshore and beam trawl fish for this morning's market...

where there seems to be a dearth of harbour (red) boxes...

nice shot of John Dory for Tom...

while the WSS made one of the biggest landings of plaice seen for a while...

bass this big don't often get caught...

not by line anyway...

whereas cod just get big and ugly...

the fridge was full of mackerel...

and hake form the Ajax...

while outside the scalloper Sapphire landed in the mizzle...

St Georges, the biggest in the fleet...

just arrived over the weekend, the latest crabber for Rowse Fishing...

with her huge working deck...

and prominent bow...

which owes its rather brutal lines thanks to the MMO introducing fishing regulations with little thought for those building a boat just over the crucial 15m overall length...

lock up your milk, there's a night-time prowler doing the rounds on some of the boats...

first light cracking the sky...

finds the netting fleet in port...

and news of the MMO moving office to relocate at Hayle...

heading for the boat Dreckly...

with a couple of tubs of fresh salted bait for the lobster pots...

a stitch in time, mending gear at the ready on the trawler...

two of the visiting scallopers wait to sail...

the new Rowse crabber hull, beam on, looks like plenty of ballast will be needed to put her down in the water......

astern of the port's biggest trawler, the Crystal Sea...

fishing irony - an 'escape panel', well that's what trawlermen call a hole these days...

an early start for some...

as they don their PSD...

and head for the gaps Dreckly...

clouds scud over the Mount.
