Organisers are calling for teams to sign up for the annual Newlyn Raft Race to be held later this month. The event, which raises money for Newlyn Harbour's Christmas lights, will be held at Newlyn Green on July 31, starting at noon.

Organiser Marcia Bell said: "It's usually a very successful day and it's lots of fun with the raft race itself." Every year, women's teams try to beat the long-lived, the Meadery girls."

This year, will see the fire brigade versus the Penlee lifeboat!
