Final #FishyFriday in April

Dull, but a whole lot warmer and with the promise of sunshine to come...

plenty of fish to keep the buyers busy before the weekend too...

bass seem to be everywhere for all kinds of boats...

as do dogfish,  these were caught by seine net,,,

along with these head-on monk...

and hake...

while these hake were gillnetted...

as were these excellent tub gurnards...

the mix of fish continued with a good shot of John Dory from the seiner...

big plaice...

shark...

and big cuttles...

and more quality hake from the Silver Dawn...

while the beam trawl fish included plenty of Dovers...

giving 'M' something to put his back into that stacked pallet to move...

the usual sort of mix from a small inshore boat...

dozens of boxes of haddock filled much of Zone 2...

along with the Trevessa IV's monk tails...

and the Twilight II's turbot...

though the tangle nets of the Celtic Dawn brought home the big turbot trip...

along with more tails...

more summery fish like these red mullet came form the Twilight II...

the tides being what they are saw a mix of boats in port for the end of the week...

giving the guys on the Acionna a chance to repair their seine net - a very different type of net as compared those with huge footropes used by modern Dutch seiners working in the North Sea and English Channel...

time to get the gear back on the net drums...

not every ring-net is black...

loading time...

two very different boats...

a brace of Brixham beamers...

the seine netter Acionna in profile...

she's long way from home...

oops!
