'Tiz a wet Monday morning in Newlyn.

Pelagic Marksman about to take on ice in preparation for tonight's sardine fishing trip - the 12 tons that she put ashore was more than that landed by five other boats that were also fishing last night...

just the one netter trip on the market this morning from the Stelissa...

comprising mostly of hake...

beam trawl fish came from the Twilight III...

by weight, mostly megrim and monk...

just enough to keep the assembled buyers happy...

for a small inshore trawler the New Venture lands some excellent hauls of quality fish......

Tom picked up a few good John Dory...

while the good ship Elisabeth Veronique weighed in with monk a-plenty...

top quality line caught pollack in limited numbers from the inshore boats...

yet another Mediterranean octopus made it to market...

tales of two fish, but which fish and which is which?..

superb John Dory still being landed by the inshore boats...

name the fish to which these tails belong...

cuttlefish ink looking more like some tide-flow chart...

good weather meant that all of Newlyn's inshore trawlers managed to put in trips over the weekend...

red mullet look as good as they taste when cooked correctly...

scallops and cuttles from the beam trawler...

this year has seen a record number of Scottish scallopers like the Summer Rose...

purpose built for the job...

working south of Newlyn, one of the biggest, Albion is amongst them.
