The 40' French yacht Ilaria ran aground...
just off the end of the pontoon berths...
initial attempts by the lifeboat to pull her off proved fruitless...
so help was enlisted from one of the French crew who took to his punt...
picked up an anchor and line...
rowed ashore...
and placed the anchor so that when the tide turned the boat would not swing round and ground herself further...
hoping that in the meantime she would not heel over anymore...
at the same time there was just enough water for the beam trawler St Georges to leave the harbour.
