Lifeboats at the extreme ends of the UK were out on shouts over the last few days - first, Scrabster lifeboat was called out to pick up the ex-Grimsby longliner, ex-Cornish gillnetter, Sparkling Line after getting net in her prop...
and then in the early hours of Sunday morning Penlee lifeboat steamed 27 miles south of Newlyn to the Louisa N, owned by Mike Nowell as in father of Exeter and England rugby star Jack Nowell. The boat had suffered a total gearbox failure which meant she could only retrieve both trawls and wait for the tow to arrive. All hands were safe.
