Wednesday in Newlyn.

Away to the east the sun begins to break beneath the heavy morning cloud cover...

on a market with just the one beam trawler and two inshore trawler trips...

enough to keep the buyers bidding...

especially on a box of big bass, an unusual haul for a beam trawler...

snake-like conger always keen to impress...

as the latest sale goes down in the auctioneer's book...

pollack made good money...

and with not much fish on the market the bidding was brisk...

no doubt young Roger is counting the days to when his beloved John Dory will arrive in quantity...

until then a smattering of JDs and red mullet keep the quality end of his catch turning over...

more than enough to keep Spike and Gary from Cefas busy collecting data...

just the one crayfish - not to be confused with freshwater crawfish...

big blondes figured large in the Innisfallen's  first trip in her new green guise...

her gurnards were in top condition...

this litte chap is not one to stand on in shallow water, name the fish...

these boots...

aye-aye cap'n...

brilliant, fish from the AA...

haddock are never off the menu these days...

name this boggle-eyed beast...

top quality tub gurnards...

and a mix of grey and reds...

and the odd scallop...

heralding the start of the annual Scottish invasion, the Replenish,...

is the first of the big prawn trawlers to arrive and take up a berth...

Girl Pamela, off for a day on the pots...

heads out to sea...

as the sun breaks over the Bay, the schooner Irene...

and the Mount...

giving the harbour...

 a tint of pink...

then dawn breaks...

and the heavy goods move in...

and out...

no fly-tipping in Newlyn, just ice...

always good to see the May blossom in April...

one the day after the Fish Mish Annual Conference...

via Newlyn the road to anywhere...

a totally unique cinema experience is now available in Newlyn...

or you can sample the Newlyn Filmhouse Cafe Bar.
