Eastenders character tells 7.7 million viewers to avoid eating cod ........... great.

Monday night's episode saw new Queen Vic landlord Mick consoles a tearful Sadie Young as she shuts up shop and closes her salon - all harmless stuff. Then the bombshell dropped in the conversation:

After announcing to him that she and her daughter are leaving the square, she says,

"Well you know that they say, there are plenty more fish in the sea"

He, trying to be helpful, says, "yeah, even with all this global warming, it's teeming with apparently. Just don't go near the cod 'coz it's a bit scarce at the moment from what I've been reading"

Thanks Mick - please try keeping up with the news! - you should have gone to the cafe and read this article in a daily newspaper (published) the day before! http://bit.ly/1mGrqX1

Thanks to script writer Rob Gittins for, undoubtedly entirely in ignorance, mis-informing 7.7 million viewers as to the state of cod stocks in the UK! Just shows what the industry is up against if such a well respected writer can get his facts wrong.
