Temps Fête - Douarnenez 2010 starts today - you wish you were there!

Day one of the not-to-be-missed Douarnenez Festival 2010 - starts with a little taster video - an ex-admiral explains why the beast often referred to in Newlyn as "underground mutton" or "bush conger" is held in such low esteem by sailors the world over - especially fishermen!

There are plenty of boats that bear Cornish registration numbers turning up for what is a three day party with non-stop music, eating and drinking - something the Frogs seem to have weighed off in a way that we Brits just dream about - if you are there and look hard enough you might just get lucky and spot a gendarme or two overlooking the port casually drawing slowly on a Gitanes - that's about 20 less than police Newlyn's Fish Festival or the last night of Mevagissey's Feast Week!
