It's a quiet end to a busy week on the first #FishyFriday in September!

Sometimes, it takes two to tanker...

the number of yellow-wellies is petering out as the sailing season comes to an end...

a few lobsters have come over the rail of this punt in its time...

am thinking Squirrel has retired...

Tom heads away in a silvery sea, a popular name for fishing boats up and down the UK...

ice taking time for the Britannia IV...

dazzling sun this morning...

never a dull moment for Patch and the crew...

stay fit and healthy guys...

a few days of huge ground seas left there mark on the beach at Newlyn Green...

just the one netter to land...

and the one beam trawler...

along with a handful of inshore boats...

with fish like megrim sole from the beamer...

meant the market was pretty much clear of fish by 7am...

as the Harriet Eve heads in to land her tripof crab and lobster, and maybe a few octopus.

Through the weekend to Monday morning's market in Newlyn.

The legacy of hurricane Erin gave rise to unusually heavy skies, thunderstorms...

strong light and tidal surges over the weekend...

according to early users of the ice plant's new more powerful delivery hose it wold come in handy if you need to shot-blast any surface...

take off time for a great black-back youngster - a ringed one at that...

the Amanda of Ladram making her way to the gaps with the old Penlee lifeboat hpuse in the background......

very cool hues in the harbour on Monday morning

never quite quick enough to catch this guy diving for fish...

landing time for the Stelissa...

time the Intuition had a scrub...

freshly landed hake cam from the Ygraine...

and the Britannia V...

with a few pollack thrown in...

the big beamer always provides monk tails...

despite the fresh night there were sardines from the Bay this morning...

John Dory, staple diet of the Crystal Sea...

as are megrims for the bem trawl fleet at this time of year...

a good shot of fish from the Stelissa...

as young Jimbo supervises the landing pole coming down...

the local crabbers still get much of their bait from the trawl fleet landing gurnard and mor-kis...

summer scallops...

just some of the ones these guys didn't manage to eat...

auction almost done...

as Jimbo's old command the Joy of Ladram makes her way up the harbour...

oops!, ripping off one of your drive units is not the thing to do when approaching the Scillys, luckily the slip in Newlyn can take all sorts not just boats from the fishing fleet...

landing time for the big crabber...

the sardine fleet sleeps by day...

one of the new ladders on the Old Quay, part of the ongoing restoration work on the Old Harbour...

it's a tranquil start to the day...

though the odd heavy shower looks to be in the offing at any time!

Final #FishyFriday in August

Fairly fine Friday morning to end a busy week...

but with the weather not being the best overe the last few days landings were well down this morning leaving the laziest of the local gulls wondering where breakfast is going to come from...

what little inshore fish made it to the auction made good money like these fine fish from the bass-meister Cod aboard the Butts...

squid...

superb redder then red gurnard...

and goldfish-like red mullet are no doubt headed for the finest dining tables......

while these big monk tails from the only big boat Enterprise, to land helped keep the buyers happy...

with fine weather promised for the weeknd what better fosh to buy than Cornish sardines...

from the likes of the Inter-Nos and the Lyonesse...

scallops in some areas seem to have suffered from hungry octopus' feasting on them, recently, Divemaster Sophie Shields has posted some superb images of these eight-legged wonders while working out of Porthkeris...

wrapped and ready to go...

calm enough, for now!
