Newlyn working port - back to normal after the Fish Festival


Passionate about Fish put on a superb display of fresh fish for those who made it to Newlyn Fish Festival yesterday - where ALL the profit goes to the RNMDSF and is ring-fenced for Cornwall - you can see the display fish being auctioned here



looking good towards the Mount this morning at 6am...


looking west and the big full moon is still high in the sky...


these guys just love the sunshine...


so this time of year the boats can see see good hauls...


for the Cefas team to collect data from...


looking out to sea...


as the buyers get bidding on hake from the Karen of Ladram who featured alongside the main start of last nights documentary TV show on Channel 4, The Catch...


the hake gets whisked away quick enough this morning...


as another box goes down in the auctioneer's book...


doesn't come much better than this kind of start to the week...


as this angling canoeist has taken advantage of...


a stunning morning in the Bay.

Newlyn Raft Race and the day before the Fish Festival!


The stage is set...



the race about to begin...



with all hands looking confident their raft...


will do them proud...


the junior race went to the girl's in pink...


these guys look serious...


some can't resist an early scrap...


they're off!...


a crowded start...


and you wonder if some will make it round...


as they get lower...


and lower...


while the stability of others looks poor...


the Medery Girls eventually get underway...


the housing market has collapsed...


first ashore!...


the raft has to come out of the water...


and the traditional attack team second...


hed for the line...


they made it!...


the man at te finish...


over to the festival site...


the Irene returns...


as the crab arrives...


a short ceremony saw the Fish Festival team lay a wreath in remembrance of family and friends lost at sea...


the annual Blessing of the Fleet took place in the market...


as the site is all set for the next day...


ther port still works for some..


and the last of the mackerel men arrive...


and a crabber too alongside the market...


scalloper heads in...


it was the first...


Last Night of the Cornish Proms up at the Centre...

the first sardines arrive for the night.
