Diary date for next year.

Watch out for a major seafood and fishing event on the 10 November this year at a Central London venue is yet to be decided.

This important seminar will look forward to the approaches that the fishing industry and policy makers can take to conserve marine biodiversity for the future, whilst balancing demands from consumers for the products to which they have grown accustomed.

Local MP, Andrew George will attend the event in his capacity as Shadow Minister for Marine and Natural Environment - get any thoughts, comments or ideas to him well in advance to avoid disappointment - your chance to get your voice heard at the highest level!

The latest agenda is available as a download here.

Calling skippers and owners!

Seafish are about to embark on their annual survey of the UK's fishing fleet - do your bit by telling them what you can.

Hazel Curtis, Chief Economist at Seafish, said: “This important annual survey provides a detailed overview of the financial performance of the UK fleet by sector. We will also provide a personal financial benchmark report for skippers who send us their vessel accounts.”

Skippers who would like to take part or find out when survey staff will be in their area should contact Andy Gray on 0131 524 8642 e-mail a_gray@seafish.co.uk.

Prue Nash survives for 2 hours in the water 50 miles off Land's End.

Listen to James Churchfield's Breakfast Show to the amazing story of yachtswoman Prue Nash who fell overboard from a yacht travelling from Cork to Southampton. After losing her footing and sliding off the deck under the handrail Prue spent over two hours in the water without a lifejacket that she had to ditch. Listen from 3 minutes in for an interview with the lucky survivor from her bedside at Treliske Hospital.

French trawler, Boree Al on the AIS.

According to the AIS tracking the Boree Al is at anchor - but it could be that she has come fast on the bottom - possibly on a wreck - and has been stationary for some time .

A mighty misty Monday morn.

One of the southernmost targets (heading SSW) is the Newlyn netter New Dawn shooting gear!
