Fine weather brings fine fish.

Darren makes it 40 today, as everyone now knows.....
fine run of turbot from Padstow netter Charisma......
the empty insulated tubs go back aboard the Sea Spray after landing ........
another shot of quality handline pollack.....
check out the web site for the much needed stadium for Cornwall.

Saturday is scallop day

Last few boxes from the CKS overlanding his fish......
the flat seas always improve scallop catches......
and heaving the bags ashore brings the crew out in a sweat......
after landing, its back to the ice works and away to sea again asap.

Superstock powerboats arrive in penzance

There's a full programme of events both offshore and onshore this weekend as the UK round of Superstock hits sleepy Penzance. There's huge interest, not least from the youth of the ton as over a dozen local bands get to provide live music from a marquee on the prom.

Check out the slide show of early morning preparations in the Superstock headquarters.

The weather could not be better with a warm breezy easterly wind predicted to blow across the Bay.

French trawler Alya in Newlyn.

As harbourmaster Andrew Munson circles in the harbour punt alongside the Le Guilvenec registered trawler Alya that has been working north of Pendeen the inshore scalloper Morel Margh makes her way to the market.

Springwatch 2010 - stunning show of sea power.

BBC2 finished its Springwatch 2010 series with a look the interaction between fishing and the visually stunning display of feeding antics courtesy of killer wales and nautical extreme sports diving stars, gannets. Unmissable viewing as a lifetime wildlife photographer is left speechless and unable to find the words to describe killer wales as they chase down scraps of mackerel from the giant mid-water trawler Charisma.

Superstock in the mist?

It's a misty morn on the way to the Mount.......
so the crew and divers on the Evert Maartje must have had a quiet night......
as Radio Cornwall prepares to cover the Superstock Powerboat racing.......
the Jubilee Pool is getting a new coat of concrete on the bottom.......
will she go on the tuna this year?........
there must be a few hands cursing they never went for the mackerel last night.......

just checking the numbers add up back at headquarters......
alongside the market the Defiant has slipped in under cover of heavy mist
not much doing for the Chris whom (at a quick glance, could easily be mistaken for another fisherman in a similar St Ives registered punt) and his boat Peter Pan this morning........
along the prom the powerboat organisers will be hoping for better visibility than this tomorrow.....
whereas the Mount just looks more and more inviting.
