After a scrub and new coat of anti-fouling the Nellie makes her way down the slip...
aboard, next in the generation of Nowell fishermen makes his way down the wheelhouse steps....
while another re-creates the scene from a certain film - minus a girl of course!...
Steve, one of the ever-helpful harbour staff always on hand to provide a warm welcome for yachtsmen visiting the port.....
as usual its a man thing, so the girls just get to look out over the bow it seems....

Frenetic Friday

With the scaffolding removed, the full glory of quality Cornish granite is now on display across Penzance Dock basin.....
The Nova Spero is about to go tuna fishing - so all the gill-net gear must be removed.....
visiting lifeboat George and Ivy is berthed on the New Quay...
despite being from Southampton, she's a long way from home
fishermen's memorial statue, 'Tom' is now back and on a solid new plinth....
the old Anthony has shifted berths of late....
this is as high-tec as it gets for a punt, Ocean Fish'e Ibis, named after a classic Mevagissey lugger has just put ashore the day's mackerel haul.......
seems there is a heavy run of fish at the moment for the mackerel boys.....
another group of visitors gets the early morning market tour and are entertained for a few minutes by the resident seal - not that these beats are popular with the local fishermen - the Cadgwith boats are having thousands of pounds of monkfish eaten by seals at the moemt and are being forced to haul there gear daily to try and attract the un-invited guests to a quality fish supper....

good to see sluch ice being used to keep the quality up in the sultry weather.....

Protesters make some noise in London

Big tides and brilliant sunshine

You don't see too many of these traditional wooden 'otter boards', to give them their proper name, these days....
with high water coming in the evening their are always plenty of anglers heading down the quay over the big spring tide.....
a rare sight indeed, a blue hull against the North Quay, normally you have to be green to be seen here!.....
bongos of brown crab make their way into the back of the waiting vivier transport from the Intuition
more boats in than out today.

A few sharks about with the netters

with no market on a Sunday, the backlog of netters finishing off the tide filled both ends of the auction hall this morning....
with one or two sharks about including this sizeable porbeagle......
now nearing completion, the old dockside buildings in Penzance have been transformed by the developers.
