Local inspiration

Down the road near the classic Art Deco swimming pool the latest art gallery puts on a display; many of the works reflect local seascapes. The gallery's name is inspired by the town's port registry letters PZ Gallery.

Not a breath!




















Look carefully to the left of the angler and you will see that he has some unusual company!


















The harbour workboat, 'Trewidden' , often seen with harbour master Andrew Munson at the helm, is currently undergoing repairs on the new quay.



















Crew on the Urk registered 'Jacoba' are busy splicing eyes into warps.












As the sun went down there was not a breath of wind across the harbour - looking along the new pontoon berths to the right.

A rare Irish visitor

The 24.01m seiner Roise Catriona, T100 owned by Damien Turner Fisheries in Droum Castletownbeare, Ireland pays a visit to Newlyn in advance of the poor forecast.
Good to see she has undergone some 'plastic surgery' and had a 'nose job'!
Meanwhile the Lisa Jaqueline, PZ476 rests in tier on the North Quay.

All the colours of the....

Sammy the resident seal cruises into the harbour for the weekend.

As soon as the Sampson hits the quay up ges the gear for repair.
An unusual rainbow graced Penzance town for half an hour.

Cormarants, kids, coming and going and art!

Under the command of one Don Liddicoat, the Algrie leaves for another trip.

A dashing figure leans against the rail atop the aft shelterdeck, Willy Tossel ponders life aboard the Algrie and his next week at sea.As the Algrie leaves she passes the Billy Rooney at the end of her trip.The Billy Rooney is one of the biggest vessels in Stevenson's fleet.Elsewhere in the harbour, fish are being caught by rod and line over the back of the quay, at just six years young D'arcy has just landed a 'Pillock' as she calls them!Badcock's Gallery are holding another showing - there is vibrant creative activity in and around Newlyn these days with 2 & 3D work on show. Yet another poser down the quay, one of the local cormorants takes the time to bask in the late evening sun.
