The freshest fish on a #FishyFriday morning from Newlyn.

Mr Mackerel, Dennis Pascoe lands his morning's work...

a little too late for this morning's landing board which dictates the order of sale...

the one and only brill, looking away...

a few less John Dory for Mr Nowell...

the AA has been north of the islands again by the looks of these little piscatorial pink pleasure prawns...

these are more commonly known by a pair of trousers, but which sort?...

there's a;ways one trying to escape...

these two will make a superb supper - no chance of confusing lobster (left) and crayfish (right)...

just the one shark, but which kind?...

Mark always likes to add a personal touch to his landings...

Spring tides see netters back in port and a number of visiting scallopers and trawlers...

like resident Shiralee...

no hanging around on the new sardine boat as the net pound in the stern is constructed...

to the highest standards its seems...

Lia M dive survey vessel hails form Liverpool...

just leaving you in no doubt who the Aurora's owner supports...

was a good year...

it won't be long before the Twilight III is back at sea again...

while the James RH has a few hours work ahead of the crew with both sides of gear to overhaul...

heading back in through the gaps...

as the Benediction heads out...

through the gaps...

side-by-side, two of the biggest sterns in the port...

a glimpse of basic trawl construction, the wire cored rubber disc footrope and combination (wire/fibre mix) make up the groundrope with the fishing line of the trawl attached or 'set' to it with twine, 7-8 heavier grade twine 'guard' meshes run the length of the footrope and afford greater resistance to chaffing on the sea bed before the lighter twine is used in the belly and wing meshes of the trawl...

just astern of another visiting trawler, the Copious...

as the visiting scalloper,  Acquarius heads in to land...

its a wrap...

another Celtic cousin in port...

the Lia M survey boat...

it must be summer, the scallopers are here in force!

Under a blazing sun in Newlyn.

Three beam trawlers this morning...

and a handful of inshore boats landing the very best fish...

for the buyers to bid on...

some just can't resist the temptation...

scallops by the bag...

cod on the wayto the shop...

ray are always the happiest of fish...

while hake maintain a steely gaze...

name the fish with this tail...

the netter Harvest Reaper landed a good run of big white fish, pollack included...

it's high water and time for PJ to get more pots on board...

seems orange is proving an ever more popular hull colour...

the annual summer insurgence of north Cornwall and Devon inshore trawlers is well underway...

and it's good to see that other green machine back in the port, even tough the boys are in the middle of replacing an entire belly section in the trawl...

yet more stern trawlers...

making moves...

the St Georges lands a four day trip for Thursday's market...

classic lifeboat Angle...

the fitting out work is well underway on the new, as yet, unnamed sardine boat...

just on high water the Twilight III positions herself in the slip cradle...

while slip-meister, Lionel waits with his finger on the button....

before hauling her up the slip...

setting tangle nets for spiders, next season's gear in Andrew's skillful hands...

damaged hake net is cut out and recycled...

yet another yacht heads for the gaps...

full steam ahead...

for the Sapphire II...

as she shows off her freshly painted hull...

and creates a few waves...

as she steams around the Bay...

before heading off to Mousehole...

to entertain those watching from the port.
