Buyers head for the first boat to be auctioned...

on a day of quality fish from inshore trawlers like the Imogen II...

the bidding is keen...

especially for fish like these top quality ray wings...

cracking flats...

and regal reds like the mullet...

tub gurnards...

and black bream...

along with a good selection of line caught bass...

keeping the buyers busy bidding...

and the bought fish on the move off the market floor...

past a big shot of cuttlefish...

and the odd shark...

just made it to the fish market, the Shiralee...

while the Cornishman looks all scrubbed up ready for the next trip.

Monday morning.

Tom is treated to a Mount's Bay morning sky devoid of cloud...

as the eleventh hour of the eleventh day approaches...

with just over a dozen beam trawlers active in the port landings are often down to one boat, today it's the St George's turn to put some flats like plaice...

and Dover soles...

and these amorous congers...

keeping an eye on things...

a handful of ray...

while bass from that best of bass boats, Butts made good money...

there were even a few scallops to go under the hammer...

bass get their age determined by sampling scales and not otoliths...

with the air temperature around 13º and a box of bonito tuna on the market you could be forgiven for thinking you were somewhere on the Med!...

these guys are still proving elusive in any quantity in the Bay though...

keeping the big beam trawlers happy, that there black gold...

bidding on beam trawl fish in progress...

like mackerel, squid are also shying away...

unlike the seaweed which is finding its way everywhere including the harbour, causing the pints endless fun picking weed from their props - you wouldn't want to steam towing a mass of weed astern would you Danny? ;-) ...

the day looks set to be  a fair one...

all set for trade today in town.
