It might be #FishyFriday but it's also Newlyn Fish Festival on Bank Holiday Monday!

Freshly tarmaced and...

open for business...

you can now walk the brand new coastal footpath to Newlyn from Penzance...

with its shiny new railings...

catch the rising sun...

though they are not the only shiny new things in the port...

end-to-end with #fishyFriday fish...

including scallops for the big beamer Sapphire II...

great gurnards...

hake so fresh it can bite yer bum...

pristine line caught pollack...

magnifique monk...

and even some little delicate monk cheeks...

allset to keep the buyers nodding furiously...

as the brilliant brill get the Cefas treatment...

Lionel Washer washes...

still oodles of mackerel in the Bay...

aa the day boats like the trawler Valhalla go under the ice machine...

big netters get big gear and life made easier with this hydraulic over-ending machine to transport the miles of nest off and on to the deck of the boat...

the ice snake gets a new home...

three of the Rowse crabber fleet at rest...

as the Emma lands her day's work...

looks like a yacht for sale at a good price...

sunrise over the harbour...

four out of these five boats are new to the port in the last couple of years...

as are three of these, representing the huge investment and faith in the fishing future of the port demonstrated by the fishing families of Newlyn...

the visiting yachts are definitely bigger than average this year...

all able to enjoy yet another stunning sunrise...

it would seem a little unnecessary on a boat all  of 45 feet long to have a sign indicating the muster point in the event of an emergency - such are the rules these days...

all designed to see that Tom is able to do his job keeping a watchful eye on the fleet when they are at sea...

it's kind of Newlyn '50%' Green at the moment #whenthegrassgrows...

sunrise over the Mount...

don't forget it's Newlyn's 25th Fish #Festival on Monday!

Penlee lifeboat RNLI 24-36 called out on a shout in Mount's Bay

Penlee lifeboat launched at 11.42 this morning in scuffly weather...

Hey! Mr Blue sky

Late showers...

and an empty Penzance Dock now...

looking back west...

as the sun breaks behind the Scillonian III...

almost like a film set...

looking for that elusive pot of gold...

somewhere over the harbour...

a French yacht makes a break for it form the wet dock at dawn...

and makes her way out to the Bay...

classic ship the Greyhound all set for Falmouth Tall Ships later this week...

showing the massive clump that helps separate the twin trawls...

a familiar looking hull - she used to be the Ygrain skippered and owned by Barney Thomas from St Ives...

as a Cygnus 44 she began life as a stern trawler and was one of the biggest new boats built for Newlyn in the 1980s...

the sun keeps trying to shine...

the French yacht make her sails ready for sea...

not all houses in Penzance are granite...

so there's another missing pot!

This years gorgeous Fish Festival prints from @PirripPress

Former Penzance designers Pirrip Press have again produced a pair of dazzling designs to help raise money for the Newlyn Fish Festival charities.
The two woman design team, who moved to Bristol two years ago, still maintain strong links in Penwith and donate part of their prints' profits to the festival as well as displaying their skills on the day.
In 2012 they were in Leth Gallery live printing and last year they had a stall on the festival site.
This year they have a fresh pair of designs to commemorate the 2014 festival.

The first print is a two colour tour of the sights of Newlyn.
Alexandra Higlett said: "We enjoyed sitting down and making lists of all the buildings around the town - spot the Lovell’s broccoli & bean, the Mission’s clock-top,
and the shadows on the ice tower. Top marks to anyone who identifies them all first go!

"The second print is a montage of imagery inspired by the sea and the Fisherman that work out of Newyln.
Georgina Hounsome said: "We liked exploring the patterns and shapes of fish and sea and making the Fisherman’s Sou’Wester just that spot
on shade of yellow. Both the posters are silkscreen printed by hand, and they’re in a limited edition of
just 100 each.
"We sold out of all the 2012 and the majority of the 2013 prints, so we’re really hoping to match that this
year!"
Each print costs £10 with £2 going directly to the Festival Committee to distribute to charity.
The prints will be on sale from the Pirrip Press stand on the North Pier or you can reserve or order online at www.pirrippress.bigcartel.com
