over 80 boxes of ling make up the best part of the Girl Patricia's trip this neap tide...

one juvenile Icelandic gull deals with an itch....

on the market, Edwin grabs a few sardines, but what for?

a regular visitor to the harbour has popped in for breakfast it seems....

though there is some stiff competition from the ever-present gull population!

Paddles and plastic sheaves

Observed on the block that supports the beam trawl aboard a visiting Belgian beamer, the use of plastic for the sheaves....
as a rule, all the Belgian boats hang up their cod-ends while in port.....
these are dual-purpose boats that can go mid-water trawling during the winter months....
recognise that face cutting through his footrope?
in the relatively sheltered confines of the harbour, someone gets instructions on sea-kayaking

Bevvy of blue Belgian beamers

Z402 Nooitegedachte, Z525 Sylvia Mary Z474 Hessel Sr waiting for their transport to arrive so that they can send their fish back to Belgium....
and, of course, that means the boys get to go through the gear while they are waiting....there's some heavy weight scalloping here - 17 dredges a side on the Troon registered, TN37 Philomena....
down by the market, local beamer Elizabeth N gets her gear in shape for the next trip, today's forecast is giving the wind around NW 7-9 decreasing 5-7 later.

Fish, fuel and a few mackerel

More images make their way on to company vehicles....
the Chloe T makes her way back to the quay after landing against the market....
and, unusually for a beamer, has a bass in her landing....
a shot of mackerel from a punt, a bit thin on the ground, and a bit thin!
expensive commodity delivers to a thirsty beamer fleet....
good to see the yella wellies out in force to brighten up the auction sale......

the Algrie waits to pick up her boxes.....
a sight never seen before - ice on the gurnards, fast making a name for themselves........
as another wagon load of black (well, red) gold from Mr Bennets makes its way down the quay
catch a cuppa in the cafe if you can.
