Vision IV taking on her prawn trawls in Newlyn.

Built at Banffs famous McDuff shipyard, Zander Jack's Vision IV is one of the largest prawn trawlers to visit Newlyn this summer...

along with the Ocean Vision...

trawling, especially twin-rig trawling requires the trawls, bridles and doors to be rigged and maintained to the highest order if they are to fish efficiently and effectively...

here the stocking of the starboard trawl is being lifted onto the powerblock roller...

while the port side trawl is hauled into place...

and made and ready...

to be heaved onto the port net drum...

skipper Zander Jack keeping an eye on things from atop the aft shelterdeck...

as the crew fit new wind end rubbers to protect the eye splice and hammerlock...

of the heavy footrope...

fish-eye view of the net going aboard the boat...

every last scrap of net and rubbish was picked up by the crew...

as the net drum was wound aboard...

in total, the Vision IV has six net drums at allowing her to work several different trawl types and switch gear easily while at sea...

not one but four brushes in use to sweep the quayside after repairs were completed, a move much appreciated by the harbour staff...

Zander takes a turn out of the boat to she that she lays her port side to the quay...

and it's all smiles...

from the crew - all of whom are a long way from home - where is the next generation of young UK fishermen coming from one might ask?..

doubling up on the bow ropes...

as both are made fast to the quay...

and a last look to check they are in the best position for mooring safely...

with a boat that circumnavigates the entire UK coastline throughout the course of a year every conceivable piece of gear that can make landing and handling gear easy is carried aboard the boat - right down to her own pallet truck...
