Dubai delegation in Newlyn





Falfish sales and auction expert, Ed Hosking (left) gave the team from Dubai fresh food supplier Spinneys a tour of the fish auction and harbour this morning as part of their fact-finding tour...

and with a wide range of boats landing the range and quality fo fish landed more than impressed the overseas visitors, red mullet they were familiar with...


but fish like these bhig ray...

and head-on monk from the visiting Scottish prawn boats that landed yesterday gave Ed an opportunity to show off the diverse range of fish for which Newlyn is so well regarded...


these witches were amongst several species that were entirely new to the visitors...


it's a wrap at the end of the auction...


while the revival landed plenty of haddock...


it was the local beam trawler St Georges that wowed with this huge turbot, a fish that no doubt graces many of the finest restaurants in Dubai...


the Ocean Vision also put ashore their whitefish...

along with John Dory...


and hake from the Orion...


this single monk all but filled this 7 stone fish box...

and more hake from the Revival...


the inshore boats are touching on a few spiders as the season shows signs of starting...


while some of the handliners had good landings of mackerel from the bay...


on a more promising morning weather-wise...

which means the crew on the Acionna get to mend their seine net in the dry today...


prawn trawler, Vision V makes her first appearanace in the harbour this morning to land...


then headed for a berth to join...


the Ocean Vision which arrived yesterday...


there's plenty of work yet to be done on the Joy of Ladram on the slip.
