"In like a lion out like a lamb" - it's the first Monday morning market in March!

Storm Jorgé saw to it that none of the port's beam trawlers managed full trips for this morning's market...

despite the weather the mix of fish was a varied as ever, like this huge blonde ray, with landings from the Algrie, Twilight III and Resurgam giving all the buyers at least something to pass on to their customers for the start of the week...

including these big tub gurnards...

a pair of Mediterranean octopus...

name these flat fish: which does this large mouth belongs to...

or this tail and dorsal fin...

there's no mistaking the fish that is the John Dory though...

specimen Dover sole, the kind of fish that might just find its way on to the counter of the @RexGoldsmith some time this week...

lovely, lovely ling - great for fish pie in these chilly days ahead...

pretty plaice...

the Algrie has been no stranger to good shots of Dovers over the years...

the sweetness that is fish roe...

there's still a few good hauls of cuttles to be picked up fishing east side of the Lizard...

yet another solitary cod landed...

along with the staple of the SW beam trawl fishery - monkfish...

nicely complimented by a dozen or so red mullet...

looks like it is the end of another Stevenson fleet era, the William Sampson Stevenson has had her fishing registration numbers painted out...

the showers that passed over the bay were heavy this morning...

the converted ex-trawler now crabber, Bon Accord, won't be long before her first string of pots are hauled...

fish boxes that find their way to Newlyn from Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, England, Wales, France, Spain, Belgium and Holland!
