Mid week market in Newlyn.

Bidding begins on the mid-week market in Newlyn...

where line caught bass and herring are just some of the fish up for auction...

along with some stunning golden whiting...

while the beam trawl fleet landed these lovely lemons...

and John Dory...

along with the odd conger...

and turbot...

and a few kilos of perfect pouts...

the netter Ajax landed around 120 boxes of hake...

the odd blue shark...

all whisked away...

lesser utilised species like scad...

and red gurnard...

some big black saithe...

and even bigger hake...

immaculate haddock...

topped up in the harbour's boxes, and one from Plymouth...

every beam trawler picks up small quantities of scallops...

to go with the mainstay of their catches, megrim soles...

supplemented by the odd John Dory...

as another bidding war begins...

for monk tails...

and witches...

there were plenty of mackerel from the handline boats...

like the Girl Pam...

making her way to the fish market to land the Amanda of Ladram...

a new hanging block for the beam trawler Filadelfia is waiting on the quayside...

as the Amanda slowly makes her way to the quay...

on a somewhat misty morning...

to take ice...

work begins with JT Fabrications welding on the wheelhouse of the new Galilee...

as the sun begins to burn holes in the low cloud...

time for a tea break and a smoke...

as the Elizabeth N enters the gaps.
