Monday morning's market in Newlyn.

The festive spirit has begun...

with the harbour all set for a busy market with plenty of fish despite the appalling weather over the weekend...

with boats like the beam trawler Resurgam...

landing the spottiest of plaice...

or inshore turbot...

deep-sea cuttles...

plenty of pollack...

huge quantities of hake...

from the Ajax and Govenek of Ladram...

name that fish...

just a solitary star and the moon still hanging in the sky this morning...

leaving the market in the dark...

while the netter Britannia lays against the fish market...

the harbour gulls wheel around the sky waiting for a glimpse of breakfast...

now that most of the fleet are still tied up for weather...

the  crabber |Emma Louise will no doubt be heading back to sea today...

as well as some of the bigger beam trawlers as they make the most of the weather before the long Christmas break...

keeps them in port...

power to the power...

an outsiders view of the fish market...

as the harbour lights take shape...

and Tom enjoys a subtle sunrise this morning...

as do those on the promenade...

like the Queen's Hotel...

just one of the sea-themed art works up for auction soon.
