Saturday morning in Newlyn and its #backtobusiness

Christmas lights are glowing...

some of the boats haven't moved for a while...

and have even been captured in oils, Sennen Lifeboat man Dan Shannon wields a mean brush...

its ice and water time for the boats intending to catch the first lucrative market of the year next week...

a steady hand guides the ice down below...

another steady hand readies himself for the last trip of 2013...

as the ice gets shovelled off the lorry...

a few last minute repairs are made to one of the trawls...

the weather is still not settled and with the wind up nor' westerly heavy showers are the order of the day...

and blast across the harbour...

as the last of the crew make it to the boat for the final trip of the year...

big tides mean the netters won't be going anywhere until the weekend coming...

as another Cornish Lass enjoys a few minutes in the sun...

before the heavy cloud passing by unleashes another shower...

over another lifeboat in the port...

for some there is a change of colour and a lick of new paint, like the big inshore trawler, Elisabeth Veronique...

at rest, Ivan Ellen under imposing skies...

with the scores for call-outs one short for both boats off last year - it's a good job in out #targets led culture that the RNLI hasn't succumbed to introducing them - given that the ideal target to aim at would be zero ;-) ...

a new broom sweeps clean, so the old saying goes - notice to the pontoon users from the incoming harbour master...

one main engine fired up...

and another...

as the boats ready themselves for a very lumpy first 12 hours at sea for their last trips of the year...

with a little help from the Chickadee...

it's time for the Resurgan to head for the ice works...

the view out across the Bay is about as grey as it gets...

patrolled by one of the resident grey gulls...

as the prom gets another soaking from a passing shower.
