'Cags' Lacy wins Queens Gallantry medal for Trevessa rescue.
50 mph winds, heavy seas and then a fire in the engine room heralded in the New Year for the crew of the beamer Trevessa last year. Coming to the aid of the stricken vessel and crew, SAR helicopter Rescue 193 was despatched from RNAS Culdrose with winchman Dian Lacy aboard. After working in 'the worst conditions ever experienced' by Lieutenant-Commander Shepherd, the crew were safely taken off the boat. All members of the helicopter crew have since recieved awards.
Some of these dramatic events are covered in episode four of the Discovery Channel's Trawler Wars as skipper Steve Mosely aboard the Billy Rowney is charged with retrieving the abandoned gear of the Trevssa in conditions that fishermen might play down at times and descibe as 'a bit scuffly'.
