See an Aurora in Newlyn- the latest boat to join the fleet

From an aurora round the setting sun over Penzance...

to a shining new boat in the harbour at Newlyn...

the Aurora...

SS52...

has returned to her home port under new ownership...

with the legendary Shaun 'Wordsy' Edwards at the helm...

Mr passionate-about-fish himself when he was tuna fishing...

of the 112hp 9.7m wooden trawler built originally for Bob Yeo of St Ives...

the boat is rigged out with some serious trawling gear like her Spencer Carter main winch...

and net drum over her stern gantry...

the boat is a model of modern design packing the power of much bigger trawlers in her Under-10m hull...

she tows a pair of Bison trawl...

doors to help spread her white fish bottom trawl...

with its heavy footrope rig...

and a handy shelterdeck on the port side...

no prizes for guessing where the skipper allegiance's lie in the Premiership League...

in the wheelhouse he can enjoy the benefits of the luxuriously fitted out self-contained wheelhouse and galley to keep the tea coming while towing the gear and listening to Five Live...

the boat will make 24-36 hour trips to ensure her catch is landed in top condition to help keep the market supplied with the best inshore fish Newlyn can offer...

looked after down below in her spacious insulated fish room.
