#stormwarning but Breton boats head not for shelter but to fish in the lee of Cornwall #ironships #ironmen #respect

Tonight's six o'clock forecast for the shipping area where these guys are working:

Plymouth: W or SW 7 to severe gale 9, increasing severe gale 9 to violent storm 11 for a time. Rain then squally showers. Moderate or poor.

As the intesnsity of the #storm increases the four Breton trawlers that were fishing north of Landf's End board their trawls and head south - however, apart from La Houle and the Erispoe who are heading south-east for home - looks like the other three boats are now heading east round the Lizard to go and join the other Breton boats all still trawling off Gerran's Bay between Falmouth and Mevagissey!

The short video clip below was shot at Newquay's Fistral beach earlier today, about the same time these guys decided they had had enough fishing north side of Cornwall...

and headed off to join their pals south east of Falmouth!

Wave height readings from the Sevenstone Lightship at 1800 hours Sunday evening - poor enough for the three 21m Breton trawlers that came round Land's End an hour ago!
